3rd Annual Academy Awards viewing party, March 2, 2014

If you are unable to attend noontime functions but wish to connect to Canadian women in the San Francisco Bay Area, please join us! This subgroup of CWC is rooted in the Canadian tradition of a cultural mosaic that embraces differences while sharing commonalities of openness, sincerity, and caring.

We meet regularly in San Francisco, the East Bay, and on the peninsula. Events are scheduled on weeknights and weekends.

Sign up on blog above for regular updates!

Suzanne Dalcourt - Chair
Born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, I moved with my husband to the Peninsula for work in 2009. We arrived to California’s sunny doorstep after two years in the UK (and a lot of rain) much to our delight. We live in Palo Alto with our dog Kayley and can be found most Sundays drinking Blue Bottle coffee and reading the NY Times :)

Melanie Wade - Publicity/Social Media Manager
Born and raised in Toronto, I lived for twenty plus years in southern California and have resided in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area since 2006. A graduate of two Canadian and two U.S. universities, I earned a Doctor of Education degree from the University of California, Irvine in conjunction with UCLA in 2010. Lifelong learning continues to be one of my passions, especially in the areas of social media, photography, fine arts, and writing.

I am enjoying Bay Area activities including cycling, hiking, and until recently, playing inline hockey in a co-ed league in Oakland. The cultural amenities of San Francisco remind me of my equally cosmopolitan hometown, and I am very much at home in the sunny East Bay.

Rié Shigematsu Collett - Membership/Marketing
I’ve been working in marketing and business development for over 15 years, initially for ABC TV in NY and then Disney in LA. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2000, I have worked for two interactive, educational software companies in Silicon Valley and also launched an award-winning wellness spa in 2007. I am currently consulting on various marketing projects, as well as working with Numetrics Management Systems, Inc which recently sold its assets to McKinsey & Company.

Although I grew up in Vancouver, I spent five years in Montreal attending Concordia University where I received a BA Hons in Sociology and Communications followed by an MBA from McGill University. I’ve also studied at the University of Paris Sorbonne and ESADE Business School in Spain. I enjoyed serving as the President of the McGill Alumni Association of Northern California for eight years, overseeing various social and education alumni events around the Bay Area and am thrilled to now be part of the Canadian Women’s Club.
